Lands End of India

“Lands End of India”

Pleasant uncrowded early morning train journey from Madurai to Kanniyakumari with coffee and snacks ondscn41341 the way. This small fishing town has many pilgrims visiting its Ghandi memorial and the Vivekananda Island memorial.

We took a ferry over to the latter and to the island close by which houses a gigantic 40 metre statue of a Tamil saint.

The village itself is interesting to walk round its narrow streets especially down by the shore side although many places are still under going tsunami repair work.

It is an unusual place and had a different feel to it.
