We arrived in Rab at 6.45am with the dark clouds still overhead. We explored Rab Town until the first coffee shops opened at 7am. By the time the accommodation agencies were open the rain was pouring down and the thunder was rolling around. We are staying in a new first floor apartment overlooking a small bay about 20 minutes walk from the town (see picture). By lunch-time the rain had stopped and we even got a bit of sunshine. We took the opportunity to take the promenade walk back into the old town. It is a lovely place. We did some food shopping and had a late lunch at the apartment.
Wednesday 21 May. Woke up today to find pouring rain which only paused briefly once or twice during the day and it was still raining at nightfall. We ventured out just once to buy food and then settled ourselves in for the day reading. At times like this it is a plus having an apartment. A bonus was being able to watch on our Croatian TV the European Champions League Final between Manchester United and Chelsea.
Thursday 22 May. This morning we woke to find lots of clouds and one or two showers. As the day progressed it got better and better with lots of sunshine by the middle of the afternoon. We walked east today from the harbour along the extensive coastal path. The views back across the water to the belfried skyline of Rab town gave us lots of photo opportunities.

Friday 23 May. We have decided to spend another day here as we are finding Rab to be a lovely island. Woke to find a nice day with sunshine. We hired bikes for the day and had a really enjoyable time cycling around different parts of the island.
What a lovely day on which to finish our stay on Rab before we head off on the early morning ferry for Istria
